Cooking classes, exciting new dishes and Unli Wine Fridays at The Fatted Calf in Silang, Cavite

Check out these latest offerings from my favorite farm-to-table resto in the south!

The Fatted Calf has always been one of my go-to gastonomic places in the south ever since Chefs Rhea and Jayjay Sycip stepped away from the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila to a more laidback home in Silang, Cavite. From classmates / friends in school to husband and wife team in the kitchen, both consider The Fatted Calf their own playground and putting their individual talents to good use.

The good news is that guests too can also get a chance to cook like Chefs Jayjay and Rhea as they launch afternoon-long and customizable cooking classes at the restaurant.

Classes include your own chef's kit (apron, recipes) with writing tools for notes, and your own set ingredients so you can create your own version of dishes from savory to sweet.

The best part about these classes is on how they share their common cooking mistakes and their individual techniques to making their dishes extra special. And while they make use of local produce, you'll still be able to recreate them when you get back home in the city.

I was able to try the experience myself and loved it (i made cake!) According to both chefs, they have been doing this for quite a while but was only initially offered for corporate activities i.e. teambuilding, so it's really great that they're finally offering to everyone, whether you're with a group of friends or the entire family.

I tried making their famous Tres Leches Cake!

Taking a visit to The Fatted Calf isn't complete without actually enjoying their food from fan favorites such as their Roasted Leg of Beef to new favorites such as their Pork Barbecue and their amazing Crab Pasta!

Crackling Pork Belly

10-hour Roasted Local Grass-Fed Beef Shank (pre order at least 2-3 days in advance)

I've always loved Chef Rhea's cakes from her The Flour Pot selection of course, but I also personally raved about their Homemade Passionfruit Ice Cream which is super creamy with a balanced tart and sweetness that's just addicting.

For those who wanted to stay a bit longer on Fridays - most especially for those who may have already checked in at one of the nearby hotels along Tagaytay Proper, The Fatted Cald also offers Unli Wine Fridays with endless pours and from 4 to 8pm! Pair it with their homemade pate and cheese plates and just sink into bliss even for just a few hours of your busy week!
